Mother called and called and called for the police to come do something to protect her and her family, but abusive ex hubby was 'not overdue' out with the kids, and all the threatening calls he had made to her weren't a material threat, despite him telling her over and over he'd kill her when he got there.

Long story short, the police ignored her until it was too late to do anything but draw chalk outlines, and the Supreme Court held they couldn't be liable for failure to protect her, that they had no duty to protect her.
