We'd read newspapers, books, and magazines together all the time. She tried to be as unbiased as possible while putting big concepts into terms a child could understand. She grew up in a rather conservative Catholic household, so maybe that's a reason.

I was allowed to make my own decisions and create my own views on life. I just happened to follow in my mom's footsteps. Although, I'm actually more progressive that she is, so it just shows how things changes through generations. Anyways, the fact that opportunity is being taken from these kids saddens me.
