Rescue aircraft and helicopters continued this afternoon to follow strong tips in the search for Steve Fossett, who has been missing for 10 days after taking off from the privately owned Flying M Ranch in Mason Valley.

Two separate people witnessed a plane flying on the day he went missing, Sept. 3, into the Sunrise Pass area near Brunswick Canyon, said Jeff Page, Lyon County emergency manager.

Following a tip today, aircraft are searching the Sonora Pass area after a camper reported hearing the sound of a plane fly over followed by an explosion on that same day, Page said.

At both locations, aircraft are investigating and ground crews are waiting nearby, Page said.
