I know many folks here disagree with me about this, but all the shrill partisanship-- the republican said this! the democrat said that!-- seems like such a waste of time and energy. We endlessly parse one anothers' words for ways to condemn one another, but the war goes on, civil liberties erode, the planet warms, and so on.

Yes, I know the republicans do it too, they did it to Kerry at every opportunity, but dammit, I don't want to use republicans as role models. Or spiteful children, for that matter.
