Oh - we weren't always that. By a long shot.

But today we are - and I want to keep it that way.

X hundred years ago - the interests were that of keeping the city-state free of foreign influence. We changed that - We said - people are free if they want it - and we are going to make sure they stay that way. We lost over a million people to do that.

I will die before I see that dream die - We are the United States - and we are sure not perfect. But we are the last best hope too.
