They would. You know they would. You've heard the things they say about us, and the things they say about torture. That's the difference between them and us. We have human compassion, and torturing someone is just not in our nature, we were the type of kids who DIDN'T torture small animals, we couldn't, we are not like that.

Have you ever heard a repub torturepoligist call into cspan? Or ever spoken to one personally? They justify torture all day, they use fancy words, and worst case scenarios to make torture cool again in American's eyes. I've even suggested here with wildly divergent responses that they actually GET OFF on the idea of torturing Muslims and prisoners of war, and they get weird smiles on their faces when they talk about Gitmo.

Do you think I'm being too rational in my conclusion? Do you think I indulge in hyperbole regarding their love of torture? Have you been watching the mukasey 'waterboarding' hearings lately? They already threw out the Geneva Convention rules, they blatantly defend torture at every turn, yet they hide the fact that we are big time torturers.

Have you ever heard a sweet little old repub lady call into cspan just drooling over the idea of torturing the Godless Muslim heathens? I have.

If given the opportunity or given orders, would you, could you torture another human being? I don't think you could, that's why you are here at DU. But THEY could. Maybe they don't have the stomach to do it themselves, but they're perfectly happy to have someone else do it, and they hate liberals with a white hot passion.

It takes a special kind of a human being to torture another human being. Most of us wouldn't be able to do it, or ever have the desire. And those who do support torturing prisoners of war are never liberals.

And overnight, under the bush administration, torturing prisoners of war went from an act of shame to an act of patriotism. It happened so quickly, with nine eleven as the catalyst, millions of people came to accept torture as all American, and logical, and patriotic, and acceptable, and advisable, and useful, and fashionable.

That's the big difference between a 21st century liberal, and a repub. We have mercy and compassion in us, they have NONE in theirs. Given the chance, they'd torture YOU.
