and pulled out 3 tins (bought last year, I think) to check:

Contadina tomato paste: "best by Mar 31 09"

Old El Paso fat-free spicy refritos: "27NOV09"
(no legend, but in the future therefore not the packing date)

Campbells tomato soup: "Jan 16 2010"
(same reasoning)

Are you sure there're no numbers? I thought it was law these days.
