8. It's usually really icy this time of year at Tremblant.
Even as an experienced skier it's easy to take a hell of a tumble. I've been pretty lucky myself in 25+ years of skiing, and am currently reconsidering my reluctance to wear a helmet. Lucky does not equal safe.

We had a kid, probably 10 or 11, fall and hit his head during a lesson at one of our local hills a few weeks ago. Same kind of deal. Kid was on a group trip. Okay one minute, vomiting and unconscious the next. The EMTs had to argue with the trip leader to get them to take the kid to the hospital. I've been wondering if he ended up OK.

So sad. I hope Ms. Richardson, too, comes out of this OK.
