Stranded after a plane crash in the Andes, the Uruguayan rugby team survived in part, by emergency cannibalism.

That is not a reflection on anyone's ethics or culture, it is simply survival.

I'd wonder about someone who would NOT eat a dog or cat, when famine conditions are such that people are eating mud simply to have something in their stomach.

Again, it is a tribute to the comfort of your situation that you believe it is some sort of insult, rather than common behavior in a food emergency - in Europe, America, Asia, or wherever hungry people are.
