do what is right. His pleas to them yesterday we know, will fall on deaf ears. You are right, this bill, as the president himself told them yesterday, is a bill Republicans should love. He even reminded them of how it has their favorite HC 'reform' included in it, selling Insurance across state lines.

He sounded like he was almost begging them to understand how much he had bent over to please them and couldn't understand, since he basically gave them a bill only a Republican could love, they are still not supporting it.

I've thought a lot about his interraction with them. And what I saw was someone who needs votes to pass that horror of a bill. The Mass election killed the idea of '60' votes for it. Where can he get the votes he needs to pass it as it is? I think he was selling it to Republicans yesterday hoping for a few cross-overs.

I just don't see what everyone else saw yesterday. And he also went after Democrats, he usually does, he just can't criticize Republicans without including 'both parties'. He told Democrats this week to not bail out now.

Iow, his visit with Republicans yesterday imo, was to sell the Senate Bill which he originally thought they WOULD support. And he may get what he wants. I believe Repubs DID like the bill, but were going to let Dems pass it, then use it in the election knowing how unpopular it is. Now, however, their Corporate Bosses may instruct one or two of them to vote for it. Someone who is not up for re-election this year.

This is Obama fighting for what he wants, but sadly it's not what the American people want ~
