Barney Frank blames Obama for DADT letter from Gates. Tammy Baldwin expresses frustration

Interesting article in Roll Call from last Friday. Two of the three openly gay members of Congress expressed frustration with the pace of gay legislation in the House.

Barney Frank sounded extra cranky and pointed the finger of blame at the President for the delay on DADT repeal:

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), one of three openly gay House Members, puts the blame squarely on the president.

“I think the president made a big mistake allowing that letter to be sent,” Frank said, adding that he believes repeal can still pass, although “it will give some Members an excuse not to vote for it.”

That's right. It will. The White House knows that but has yet to fix the situation.

Even Tammy Baldwin sounded frustrated with the White House and her Congressional colleagues. First on DADT:

But Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), another openly gay lawmaker, called the Gates letter “a distraction” that should not affect the vote count.

“It’s just wrong, and we need to stand up when things are wrong,” she said.
