On Mollohan in West Virginia's 1st and the power of suggestion

I live just about in the center of West Virginia's 1st Congressional District where Democratic Congressman Alan Mollohan is being challenged by Mike Oliverio in today's Primary election. If you were to believe Politico or even MSNBC's web page you would be lieve that Congressman Mollohan is in some sort of trouble - I think not. Last week I took a motorcycle ride from one end of the Congressman's district to the other, outside of the area immediately around Morgantown - Oliverio's home town, there is no sign of support for him - but the Mollohan yard signs, bumper stickers, and more than one billboard can be found from the Eastern Pan handle to the northern tip of the state in Chester. As a State Senator Oliverio has received virtually no name recognition and his television advertising (we've seen on Pittsburgh stations) is repullsive. I'd say that Mollohan's seat is save as mother's milk. So one wonder's why those who make the news would want to report otherwise unless it is simply their intention to try to plant in people's minds the futility of voting for Mollohan by planting false rumors of popularity by his rival for which anyone with eyes to see could pretty easily determine just ain't so; why you'd almost get the impression they were hoping their prophecy was indeed self fulfilling.
