Several other intriguing carrots were dangled. Though, I've never had a desire to be a home owner, the peace of mind of not being threatened with eviction to make room for speculators was compelling. After about 15 minutes of talking to this broker, my husband and I realized, nearly simultaneously what we were being asked to do. That is, we were being asked to commit fraud. We declined.
