Norquist has- as many have to admit, been very successful over the years, as have Republican in general (particularly in comparison to hapless Dems, who either cynically sell out or can't get their policy choices through).

Once people accept that reality- it makes good sense to both study, emulate and adapt some of his methods- and also to make common cause on certain narrow issues.

The difference between this view- and the cult of party and personality that leads so many tin eared sycophants to blindly follow and fail (or worse, succeed in enacting unpopular, counterproductive measures) is that it's goal directed behavior designed to marshal the most resources and influence in getting specific things done that the so called "centrists" would otherwise block.
