You mean that SS and Medicaid have $650 billion lying around that is not connected to what the recipients get or how effectively they get it? Really, that's $2,200 for every man, woman and child in the US. How could a cut like that not effect recipients?

I'm not saying he lied, I'm just saying he's at least making that claim without looking too close.

Maybe he means current recipients would not be impacted-- too much. I'm skeptical even of that, but this is the same way companies and the government boondoggled people out of pension programs. Basically, the divided current recipients from future ones and trusted the former to stab the latter in the back.

And I'll bring up the question: WTF does Social Security, or its purported "insolvency" have to do with the deficit?

Medicaid might be something else, but Social Security cuts should not even be in this debate.

With this demand, the wealthy are still not asked to pay any share of the "balanced budget" they insist is so damn important, now.
