One might wonder from your perspective why even have convictions at all if they fly in the face of practicality and conventional wisdom. I imagine though, that should you allow yourself the time for thought, you'll come across a list of notable historical, artistic, and individuals of philosophies that indeed believed that the strength of their convictions were worthy enough to maintain despite setbacks. Men and women whose conviction changes the world (though it usually took much time, and I certainly empathize with those who feel that if it cannot be done in the here and now, it should not be done at all...)
on the other hand, I can certainly understand that anyone rather confused, holding few convictions, and even less strength of those convictions would simply throw their hands up at the first sign of defeat and call it quits, spending their time merely questioning the convictions of others... :shrug:
