From the police to the Guardia, they are pretty heavy handed. You can proceed confidently in Italy if you have diplomatic immunity or fall under the SOFA. Otherwise, step carefully.

I happen to like Italy a great deal, but let's not sugarcoat the truth-- it is a corrupt nation, led by a crazed pervert who likes to screw teenaged girls. It was actually a more laizzez faire sort of place when they changed their leadership like one changes one's underwear.

Because a young girl doesn't behave with sufficient decorum, and is frightened and pushed around, is no reason to convict her of murder.

They've nailed her for pointing the finger the wrong way, she will have to pay a fine/restitution, but acquitted her of murder. Just now. Her boyfriend is free as well.
