Wis. GOP blasts plans for recall work near malls
Source: Associated Press

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Republicans are ripping Democrats' plans for recall signature drives near malls on Black Friday.

Democrats and their allies launched a drive to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker earlier this month. They're angry over a number of Walker policies, including a law that stripped public workers of their union rights.

Recall organizers say signature gatherers planned to set up near malls, shopping centers and park-and-rides around the state Friday.

Republicans say the effort amounts to harassing shoppers. The party says businesses should call police if signature gatherers don't leave their property upon request and shoppers should report problems to the GOP's "Recall Integrity Center" website.

12. Repubs cannot be underestimated. Expect many dirty tricks.
Even if we get a million votes Repubs will attempt to thwart the effort at many levels.
This is most likely how Walker got elected in the 1st place.

That is why the Republican Governors have acted so arrogantly. They feel invincible due to voter suppression, gerrymandering and dirty tricks squads. After all, that is how Walker and Kasich were elected to begin with.

5. Whine, whine , whine you pigs at the trough...
You don't get your way then the law isn't fair...What is not fair is:

1.Walker was elected on a promise to create 250,000 private sector jobs in Wisconsin. After seeing the impacts of his disastrous policies, his administration has acknowledged that Walker won’t get anywhere close to fulfilling his campaign promise.

2.Walker’s budget cut over $800 million from our public schools, while at the same time placing caps on the amount of money school districts in Wisconsin can collect in property taxes to fund their schools.

3.Walker cut over $500 million from the BadgerCare program. More than 200,000 Wisconsinites could face premium increases, and over 50,000 people may be cut from their state insurance plan completely as a result of this cut.

4.While he was slashing funding for public schools and health care, Walker gave giant tax breaks to corporations, which added roughly $117 million to Wisconsin’s budget deficit.
5.In October, Wisconsin led the nation with 9,700 job losses, 9,300 of which were in the private sector. This happened after Walker held his “jobs session” with the legislature, during which no jobs bills were even taken up.

6.Walker stripped most public employees of their right to collectively bargain. Walker’s union-busting bill means that teachers, nurses, prison guards, and other public employees in Wisconsin no longer have a say in their benefits and working conditions

7.Walker signed a Voter ID bill that will make it harder to vote for thousands of eligible voters in Wisconsin. The people most affected by the restrictions in the bill include students, the elderly, the poor, and the disabled.

8.While refusing to meet with Democratic lawmakers to negotiate a compromise on his union-busting bill, Walker spent 20 minutes on the phone with who he thought was out-of-state billionaire David Koch. During the call, Walker bragged about the baseball bat in his office and admitted that he considered planting troublemakers in the crowd at the protests.

9.Wisconsin was supposed to receive federal funds to build a high-speed rail line from Milwaukee to Madison. Instead, Walker refused the money, which would not have added anything to the state budget, and the funds went to other states.

10.After hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites came to Madison to tell Scott Walker not to balance the budget on the backs of working families, he put the State Capitol on lock down, preventing thousands of protesters from entering the building.

8. Republicans hate the Constitution. I can guarantee you recall volunteers were NOT ...
... harassing any shoppers or store owners.

I was out late Thursday night, at a local shopping center. I started by holding up my "recall walker, sign here" sign as I walked down the line of shoppers waiting for the magic hour. Before I got five feet, People were waiting in line to sign my petitions.

Out came the store manager, who asked me to leave. I immediately complied, moving to public property near the entrance to the shopping center. I held out my sign so People could see it and viola, they came to me.

I approached no one asking for a signature. I did not even look directly at People when showing my sign. But they still came to me. They turned their cars around to sign. They went and fetched relatives to sign. Many said "I've already signed, but thanks for what you're doing." No one gave me any grief. No one complained (except the R's cited in this post).

Walker is so toast.

11. It's been a pleasure to see those signature gatherers
this weekend. Every single person I've seen is very polite-- charming even-- and people seemed eager to sign.

As to integrity, WI republicans are simultaneously perverting the poll workers system, abusing an obscure law to replace experienced non-partisan workiers with partisan (and inexperienced) workers , and employing dirty tricks to tell experienced poll workers that they'll have to register Republican to be employed on election day.

26. In Michigan
this past summer we set up on the parkway strip between parking lots and the road. State law allows us to be on any public property. The state police were called three times and local police twice. When they would come out to tell us we could not be there and we had to move we informed them of the facts and also told them that they should call the state police because if they called the local police, they would be told to call the state police.

When the state police came they parked and watched. After about 10 minutes they left. Make sure you are following the law and be polite to everyone while remaining firm about you right to be there. We never asked anyone for their signature. We put up signs and the people came to us. We did not impede traffic or argue with anyone. We had a blast. Too bad we did not get enough signatures, this time.

Best wishes!

This is all of a piece with the brutal suppression of the occupy movement the power structure is frightened and reacting out of fear.

56. You're absolutely correct. I have a monstrous RW penpal I e-mail back and forth with...
and I've gotten to the point with him where he is sometimes honest. Let me tell you, even his honesty is disturbing to me. What little honesty he can muster, I should say. The man is highly uncomfortable with the cognitive dissonance of me forcing him to face square-on, how the ideology he worships is diametrically opposed to the oh-so-sweet morality he claims to uphold.

Whenever that happens (that I force him to face his non-sensical beliefs being in direct opposition to his alleged morality), he either gets violently angry, or he drops into ridicule mode, in which he probably googles every anti-Obama quip and quote on right wing websites to distract from the issue that makes him feel so bad.

I think, ultimately, it behooves right wingnuts to REFUSE to analyze their ideology and alleged morality, because the two are direct opposites. In analysis, these can never be reconciled, and, if courageous and honest, they would find themselves abandoning the bullshit that is right wingerism.

In any case, the other day I got him to admit that he really doesn't have much respect for the poor, and that the poor threaten the 'fiber' of America. I realized that he has an emotional, illogical view of the poor. For some ungodly reason, he fears the poor. It's little admissions like this one (which the right wing admit so seldom because they know they are heinous) that are the reason right wingnuts scare the heebee jeebies out of me.

I have to admit that at times I feel a tad guilty because I'm so aware of how much this right winger goes through to defend his bs beliefs in the face of someone who ceaselessly points out directly opposite, unreconcileable views coexist in his mind. I am a constant reminder that he's not a respectable, respectful, respect-deserving human.

30. While collecting signaures for the Snyder recall here in Michigan
I was called a socialist and a communist. I was told to get a job. I was given the finger many times from passing cars. These incidents were minor compared to the huge number of grateful people who honked, waved, thumbs up, signed and thanked us for being out collecting signatures.

There are bound to be those who oppose what you are doing. The old way of changing govt was by force. The new way is by democratic means. Those who are corrupting and impeding this system should remember this.

I would never advocate violence as it is wrong and counter productive. Yet look at the ends to which unions historically had to go to even be able to represent workers. I thought these issues were settled and the integrity and legitimacy of the system was paramount. Short-sighted of the republicans to work against the integrity of the system.

Recall Walker petitioner ordered to leave public library parking lot
.Recall Walker petitioner removed from Hedberg library entrance
By NEIL JOHNSON ( Contact ) Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011

JANESVILLE — Officials at Hedberg Public Library on Tuesday had a Recall Walker petitioner removed from where he had set up shop in a covered parking area at the library.

City officials say the library was within its rights in asking the petitioner to leave, and a library official claims recall petitioners had been harassing library patrons in recent days.

Still, the petitioner says he doesn’t understand why he was asked to leave.

Lars Prip of Afton on Tuesday set up a desk with petitions to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker under the covered parking area on the north side of the library.

58. Ha, ha. They don't like when we follow their example. They do that crap all of the time. Roboliars.
The repug roboliars are scared. I pray we monitor the vote, especially the GOP owned-by-proxy e-machines and scanners, very, very closely. With computer hacker experts on hand to put the tally back where it was before the GOP twin of Clint Curtis changed it. We should fully expect the tampering of the vote. Why stop now? The GOP's been doing it for years. They never won an election legally I suspect.

61. Boo-hoo Pugs. Go cry in your beer.
So the recall booths constitute harrassment? But the frickin' anti-gay Salvation Army's bell-ringers and SOLICITOR-KETTLES are not harrassment? Well, at least they are intimidation.

63. Folks I think that this is just the beginning of the Whine fest
as long as they stood unopposed and we didn't speak out and didn't take action they felt encouraged to trample us and it was easy....Now that we have said enough is enough and we are going to use our Constitutional rights...they cry foul....why because the Constitution doesn't favor their criminality!@!

Well done...and let's get ready for 2012...we are going to kick their asses down the street like we should have years ago.

66. Maybe they should have thought
about what the consequences of Walker's overreaching would be. Then they wouldn't be in this trouble.

Crybabies. Always playing the victim.

72. Let the people decide, not Republican one percenters!
Who in the hell do these Republican mucky mucks think they are? They don't
get to dictate how these recall signatures are obtained. They also don't
get to define what is "harassing shoppers". I'm a shopper and I would love it!

Sit down and shut up, Republicans. You don't get to control things under
which you have no jurisdiction.

79. Not sure where exactly they are referring..."near malls"
but Mall property is private property and they can do what they want with it. The mall could as easily not allow it as well.
