Does George W. Bush care about America or Americans?
If your answer to this question is "yes," show me one iota of evidence to back your position.

I'm not evaluating his intelligence, merely his priorities. I can't remember in my lifetime, nor in my reading of American history, any president who has done more damage to this country and its people.

He has made us pariahs to every sane person on the planet, he has destroyed our financial security, he has used the Constitution as toilet paper, he is a war criminal responsible for countless American and Iraqi deaths, he couldn't care less who gets killed in the next terrorist attack, as long as he and his are safe, and he is well down the road toward shredding any remnants of civility, privacy and religious freedoms which we believed were settled issues.

Bush, and his entire criminal entourage, will never see a day in prison. It will be up to those as yet unborn to condemn these horrible specimens of humanity.

I suppose what is incomprehensible to me is those who still defend him and his actions, even though those actions are detrimental to their own financial security, what they consider to be their "moral values," and their very lives. All I can say to such people is, "have another sip of the Kool Aid."

Okay, end of rant.

I have tried to enlighten them, but they look at me with

The super rich, among whom are the Bushes, are his true interest. * cares about wealth and accumulating more of it. He is quite comfortable with the concept of a mass of impoverished proles.

10. Of course not. Never has, never will. Why do you even need to ask?
He has never done ANYthing that doesn't benefit himself or his friends "his base," first and foremost and usually to the exclusion of The People and the nation as a whole. ANY benefit to the common good that "may" happen is quite coincidental (and probably exceedingly short-lived).

14. Can't say
It's hard to tell isn't it. It's clear he cares deeply about himself. Almost certainly this presidency is the biggest "me" presidency we've ever had. Does he know what an American is? Who Americans are? Doesn't seem like it. It's clear he believes himself more important than the average American and his opinions more important than the average American.

15. He does care
Does George W. Bush care about Americans?

Of course, he cares. Here is a list of things he did to help Americans.

1. Gave tax cuts to the wealthy.
2. Let Enron et al execs off some charges.
3. Let Gates/Microsoft off monoply charges.
4. Allowed generals to lead a war that will get them into history books.
5. Protects his friends from godless liberal laws.
6. Wants to allow churches to promote Republican candidates.
7. Allow CAFTA to pass so corporations won't have to keep jobs here.

In short, yes, Bush cares for the wealthy.

The less we have, the happier he is....God I despise this Bastard! If Americans really knew what he's doing to them and their country, he'd be tied and quartered already.

18. He doesn't think of citizenship in the way most Americans do
Yes, he's American and yes, he lives in America

But his loyalty isn't to a country or to a shared democratic concept of citizenship.

Bush's idea of America is more a means to an end than it is a belief in the ideals of the country.

He's not alone in this thinking.

Bush and his ilk use America to gain power and money...but they don't believe in what America stands for...and when they do speak of the ideals of America, they apply them only to themselves - even if people hear it as them sharing their own dreams and aspirations.

"Bush is one of us" is what they hear...but that's not what Bush means. He means how he sees America applies to only those who are like him.

People like Bush will use the ultra extreme nut-case religious and the bigoted to achieve their aims - because those people want to limit freedom and control people - which makes it easier for Bush and other thugs to steal from the people. Because control is important for people like Bush to rob the country and the people(as well as other countries)...and their supporters make it easy - because they think Bush actually shares their thinking.

So they support Bush and Bush seems to support them...except Bush is the one walking away with the money and power that keeps him free of poverty, free of bad to no health care, free of the day to day struggles to survive that many of his supporters go through.

I'm not talking his base now...cause his true base are the very wealthy and the very powerful...they benefit as well from the supporters, or the true believers, who actually believe Bush gives a damn if Gays get married or not...Bush doesn't...but if the people helping to better control the population believe it(his supporters), then he promotes it, since it serves his purpose.
