My treason-gate/Plame predictions.....
It's hard to be patient, especially with the term of the grand jury soon ending (which could be extended), but for now, while waiting with baited breath, here are my predictions. I'd love to read what you think.

1) Bush and Cheney un-indicted co-conspirators (cannot indict a sitting president or VP, but it signifies that the grand jury would have indicted if they were not in those two positions).

2) Indictments: Rove, Libby, Rice, Ari Fleischer, Gonzales, Judith Miller, Novak, two or three other of the White House Iraqi Group (Hadley, Matalin, others maybe, but considering who her husband is, Matalin may have flipped ).

3) Charges:
a) Bush, Cheney, Rice, Gonzales, Libby, WHIG people:
1) Intelligence Identities Protection act, the original and specific law about outing an agent.
2) Espionage act (releasing any classified info to someone who is not cleared to see it) .
3) Conspiracy relative to all of the above.
4) Perjury
5) Obstruction of Justice
6) Knowingly lying to Congress
7) Being complicit in the forging of the fake Niger papers
8) You can bet the farm that Fitzgerald, like all prosecutors, can find a slew of technical law violations, plus more major ones.
b) Assorted charges for all the others involved.

4) Notice I left out charges for Fleischer. A year ago, a major media source, I can't remember which, had a small blurb stating that someone had flipped and was telling the prosecutors that Bush and Cheney knew everything right from the beginning. I think it's Ari (but it maybe Matalin, additionally, or instead of). He quit right after this thing blew up, has been almost totally out of public view, was an underling who most likely had no planning role, but he lied to Fitzgerald, the press and the public (which is not nearly as bad as what the top guys did). Key point: you may remember that it was reported that he had testified that he had no prior knowledge of the Plame situation, nor of her identity. You also may remember the recent revelation that witnesses told Fitz that Ari, on the now famous presidential trip to Africa, was seen with the memo describing Plame's identity and the fact that the info was top secret. They have him nailed. What else can he do? Go to jail for 10 years, and be cast as a traitor, even though he was much less complicit than those above him who might get off scot free were Ari not to flip?

Results:

1) Bush and Cheney resign.

2) Bush pardons all his crew including Cheney (which may not stick because pardons related to crimes covered under impeachment proceedings are not valid under the constitution, although this is a bit murky).

3) Bush makes deal with Hastert, the incoming president, that he will spare the country an impeachment and trial if he will give Bush a pardon, which also may not stick.

4) GOP pigs lose Congress.

5) I say "yabba dabba do!"

3. Either that or "they" get to Fitz. and somehow the whole thing is dropped
Never underestimate the level which this group will go to. No amount of
money is too much, no lie is too big, and not even treason bothers "them."

4. Sadly, I agree...
While I would happily lose a kidney to make these predictions come true, it's just as likely (or more so) that they are pipe dreams.

Goodbye America, we hardly knew ye.

5. Wonderful pipe dreams
I hope all or at least some come true.....

I think there is a tug-o-war going on right now to see whether Fitz or the forces of evil will win this one....

hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to find out.

8. If Limbaugh can walk from Felony Drug Abuse With Intent to Distribute
and NOT EVEN GO TO TRIAL, what makes you think the rest of America's investigative machinery is any less nakedly corrupt.

Fitz may be honest, but he is surrounded (and bossed) by the most corrupt group oif Tyrants EVER to rule America.

He will be stopped, and like the Limbaugh Trial that Never Was and Never Will Be, it will just sort of "fade away".

I hope I am wrong.

10. I don't think it's the Plame thing that will sink them
That may be what ends up putting them in jail but I think with what the nation has seen in these last 2 weeks the final nail will be the Abu Ghraib photos. Bush has been pushed to the point where he has (however insincerely) admitted some responsibility for the Katrina aftermath. He's in deep shit already, if those photos get out while the pictures of Katrina are still on the minds of the American people then he's done for.

11. I like it except for one tiny little problem...
Hastert and DeLay are going to be indicted very soon for crimes.

What I predict is that Bush shamefully admits that he won 2000 and 2004 via cheating on Diebold/Sequoia/ES&S, thus invalidating his presidency, and legitimizing Al Gore's presidency, and thusly makes an unusual offer - to give up his seat through 2008 directly to Al Gore, the legitimate President of the United States, and all 2000, 2002, 2004 election results that was Dieboldized are declared invalid, forcing all cheating Republicans to resign their seats (and giving Democratic Party the filibusterproof majority on both House and Senate) and the whole country goes back to paper voting, this time, with paper and pencil and lots of paid workers to count the vote correctly.

All of *'s judges are ordered to resign or face imprisonment.

All of *'s laws are null and void.

Patriot Act is declared illegal and unconstitutional and unceremoniously shoved up *'s ass (all 700 pages of it)

* and Cheney and the rest of the cheating Republicans are cargoed off to The Hague via Iraq where they can experence the true result of their horrors and allow every insurgent there have one free whip of their choice.

Osama's death is finally revealed, and it was stated after Tora Bora, that Osama has been dead for 4 years.

The rich upper percentile are taxed at 40% to reverse the deficit and all bankrupties protection for the people are restored, order all credit companies to wipe the records clean and eat their losses.

Force all CEO's who make millions off labor (such as airline bigwigs) to cut their paychecks to ONLY 3x of the highest worker's paycheck and pay back millions of dollars back to the workers, and give all unions the best pay. Happy workers makes good workers, therefore happy company makes good companies, y'know?

Ok. Enough rambling.

Add your own stuff.

12. That's a GREAT fantasy!
I think something is right around the corner, because the last few days I've seen more mentions of the treason-gate situation than I have for over a month. I think insiders know something big is around the corner.

13. Thanks for the excellent recap. I had been researching and
following this closely and I am impatient as well. Yes - about Ari -since Fitz supoenaed his press gaggle. Do you have inside info ? or is this just speculation?

Have you read these Focco pieces. People say he's crazy - but I wonder if there is any truth to any of it...

"But even then, I have been told that U.S. intelligence is closely monitoring the probes and will go after Fitzgerald if he and the other prosecutors fail to do their job. I have heard that elements of the military and intelligence have refused to obey presidential orders over the past couple weeks. That is astonishing in and of itself." snip

18. Remember from Watergate about indicting a President
Nixon was named as an un-indicted co-conspirator, and was not indicted, because as a sitting President (and this also applies to veeps), according to a prevailing reading of the constitution, he could not be indicted. Indictment was to come after impeachment.

As for Flocco and his associated band of compatriots on the web, take a look at his site, and if you do, most likely you will think that it is more than a bit out of the realm of reality. That doesn't mean that all he writes is false. You could write what he does, making it up as you go, if you were very well versed on the subject at hand, AND if you had an active imagination. He always works in the standard disclaimer statement, warning that none of his purpoted info may be shown to be true due to various conspiratorial happenings (assassination, yadda, yadda, yaadda). On his site is a story claiming that the two Clinton's, Bush 1, and Bush 2, all conspired to kill JFK Jr. I'm sorry.....but that's enough to run me off from his site.

As to Ari, it was just a somewhat educated guess, but the points I made support the possibility that the theory COULD be true. However, the more I think about it, the more I think Matalin may have flipped, which has nothing to do with whether or not Ari flipped. Regarding Matalin, I find it hard to believe that Carville would allow his wife, the mother of his two daughters, to take a fall for a bunch of people from the opposite political spectrum, people he most assuredly thinks to be bums of the highest magnitude.

What we know about Ari is that he was seen with the damning document on the plane to Africa. REPORTEDLY, he testified to Fitz that he had no knowledge of Plame. I also remember a report that someone not only had flipped, but had also testified that Bush and Cheney knew all about the Plame outing right from the beginning. It was not a substantiated report, but I believe it was a small blurb in a mainstream press organ. I know plenty of DU's crack researchers can quickly dig up the links to the story about Ari's testifying that he had no knowledge of Plame, and the story about an insider having flipped. If Ari testified as written above, he really WOULD in fact be totaly nailed by Fitz, and I could see him deciding to avoid taking the rap for the guys who REALLY did the dirty deeds.
