I'm a Marc. I've never felt like a Marc.

You?

Which I always thought was alright. Not too common or too blatantly odd.

38. Briana Rose is a beautiful combination!
My granddaughter is Gabrielle Shoshana. I wish the second name had been Rose (Shoshana is Hebrew for lily or rose, but people here in the west think it's "Shoshone" which is Native American!

4. I want my last name shortened.
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 05:17 PM by Placebo
It's too long and throws too many people for a loop when trying to pronounce it. And besides, if I ever get a novel published or one of my films released, I don't want my last name to be all long and perplexing. ;)

I already put my name on all my papers and reports and films in the shortened form, since my professors know who I am and know I want my name changed. I'll make it legal and official someday.

9. It's so easy to do - don't feel like you need to put it off!
Here in MN I changed my last name, I just needed two witnesses who knew me and who had nothing to gain from my name change to appear with me before a judge. That and I think about $100 and it was done.

37. We changed our last name from Polish/Russian sounding one...
... to an Americanized one in 1973. We are second generation Americans, born in the USA. My husband also changed his first name, which was Alvin (changed to Allen). We've never been sorry; my stepson uses our name, however, my stepdaughters still use their original name.

8. I like my first name. It suits me. I wish though that I'd kept
my maiden name when I married. I just didn't have the courage of my convictions back then to be the only one in my fundy family who did. Now I feel like I sort of 'betrayed' my identity to conform. And I wish I hadn't. Even though I like the sound of my married name better.

14. My name is Marjorie
I hated it as a kid. The other kids at school habitually called me "margarine" which sucked.

As I've gotten older, I've gotten so I appreciate it more. I don't mind it now though I don't love it. No one can ever spell it right and it's amazing how many people mispronounce it when they see it written.

I never really thought I looked like a Marjorie. I always pictured myself more as a Kate. Not sure why.

16. not wildly so
Kenneth just seems so formal or something; though I like the meaning of it: Handsome

I was typically a Kenny growing up, but a grade school teacher traumatized me by saying names like Kenny, Jimmy, Donny etc. were only for babies.

I generally go by Ken now, but it lacks a certain something. Or maybe it's the baggage of being associated with one of the more famous dolls of all time (Barbie's beau)

I married and my last name is almost the same as my first name...and I use my middle name ( a girlie name) along with first and last, and all three of my initials are the same.

Now Robin R R is a cute and memorable name.

23. I am now, but it took a long time.
My given name is Laurie. I grew up in a small town where there were NO Laurie's - lots of Tammys and Kathys and Debbies and Terris, though. I had teachers who couldn't pronounce my name, and the big joke in my family was to count how many different ways my classmates misspelled my name on Valentine's Day. I totally hated my name and couldn't figure out where my parents came up with it. They said they didn't know, either.

So, I grew up, moved to a larger city, and suddenly my name is common! People can both spell and pronounce it! I meet other Lauries! Life is good!

:-)

40. We have a bunch of Michaels in our family...
It's such a popular name.
My stepson is Michael.
His son is also Michael (very confusing...at age 15, he's still little Mikey or Junior. Someday he may be taller than his father!)
My stepdaughter married a Michael.
My daughter married an Aaron Michael.

The name is very popular but maybe too popular.
