Apparently I violated the dress code at work tonight :
and maybe I was wrong and maybe I was'nt. I have been working at this company for nearly a 1 year and a half. Tonight I wore a pair of jean shorts that I have worn at least 100 hundred times. And the other 99 times (ok maybe 20 times but still , the 19 other times , no problem -->) but tonight I was told that my shorts were too short. Ok I am glad it was the trainers who told me in a nice way and not the male managers but they also called in a coworker of mine who wears shorts all the time as well. She has worked there for 4 years and since I have been there she has always worn shorts. Her shorts are not short short either. They cover our thighs. I am just like "Wtf" who complained this time. And maybe they are just cracking down hard (its this and a lot of things) but we only wear shorts because its a warehouse and there absolutely no circulation of air whatsoever and I do my best to stay cool. Its stupid : the things that they need to crack down on , they don't. Its always something... I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Again maybe I was wrong but I even went to human resources and asked for a second opinion - they told me that my shorts were ok. What gives ?

Or in this case, ...till it goes plop. Real old net thing. May have been confined to a couple of boards I hung out on long ago.

10. But seriously though:
They also brought this up with another person whose shorts
are appropriately modest?

Sounds like you're catching some Corporate GroupThink-style
fallout from someone else's problem.

I was at a job once, where a supervisor's innocent 'joking around'
brought him THISCLOSE to a sexual harrassment charge (much like my post above).

HE got a 'letter of warning' in his file;
everyone on the floor got a photocopy of the
company Dress Code in that week's paycheck.

13. Here is a pic :
I think they might be right about them being too short , but I still wonder what took them so long to tell me.

9. My wife's bank had a dress code against jeans, short skirts, shorts
anything revealing. But they hired this one woman who somehow managed to always wear something short and tight, and no one ever complained, because she was hot in everything, and males ran the office. Then one day someone else decided to wear a short skirt. Then a third. Neither of these women were hot. All of a sudden the dress code became enforced again, even for the hot employee.

Moral of the story? There is none. Bosses just do whatever they feel like doing, Gosh.

20. You're not in contact with customers?
And they have a dress code beyond "don't show up naked"? What the hell? When I worked at Columbia House, they didn't give a shit what we wore, so long as it wasn't completely over the line. Of course, they're unionized, maybe that's it.

21. Once I worked at a place that switched ownership & shorts were banned.
The new owners "reasoning" was that customers didn't want to see hairy legs on their produce guy. Oddly enough, we had several women working there who would wear skirts and didn't shave their legs. No customers ever complained. It was a freaking health food store. The customers don't really expect too much in terms of how we're dressed.

Of course, the new owner briefly decided that he was going to make the cashiers and vitamin staff wear giant one-size-fits-all white lab coats. Now that customers (even conservative looking ones) complained about. They had liked the fact that the staff was always allowed to be individuals.

22. I was once working on a research project
that took place after hours. The clinic closed at 5:00 and we started about 7:00. It lasted until 12:30
midnight. This was after a full day's work. Anyway, I had to wear something I wouldn't mind getting
chemicals on, so I had this tshirt that just had fu*k in all kinds of sizes (spelled out) and shapes.
The lead investigator told me I couldn't wear that. I mean NOBODY was there except the 3 of us. We
ALL swear like sailors. I just told him, "F*ck you." But, I didn't wear it anymore.

BTW - your picture looks fine to me - not too long, not too short.

It was 92 F today and inside it was around 100 F. I wore shorts to keep cool. And for an update, my bosses boss was notified of the situation and said that our boss was out of line.
