The expansive shoreline opens Its arms Across my view The glittering water beckons
It says Come, travel over me Explore me Drink my salty depths Swim in my floating hair Feel my touch Along your body As you dive
The far-flung ocean Speaks to me
Of freedom

Oooh...Thank you!
It was inspired yesterday as I drove down a long boulevard towards the ocean...
The expansiveness triggered me.

Since you've taken a lot of (great!) pictures of nature, how about putting one of those in to complement a poem?
I know it's too late to edit this thread to put one in, but maybe next time! :-)

You know, that's a very good idea!
I hadn't actually thought of that...
I'll see if I can, next time...
But what shall I do if the poem's erotic? :wow: :scared:

16. Everything except drinking the salty depths is awesome. |
|
:P
I know you meant that metaphorically, not realisticly. :)
That is very cool and visual.

And I didn't know you read my stuff...
Thank you for letting me know, sweetie...
Glad you like it!
I'm hoping you get to participate in your festival today!

20. I rarely comment on Poetry. |
|
And when I do comment it's almost always only on BlueIris's threads. I don't know why that is, but it is.
But I do read a lot of stuff that I don't comment on. I hope you don't mind that I don't comment. With all the heavy meds that I take I don't feel coherent enough anymore to comment on some kinds of abstract stuff. :(
(in other words, I don't feel like parts of my brain are working at anything near capacity anymore so I keep some thoughts to myself)

17. I hope we always think these thoughts when looking out into the ocean... |
|
I hope the horizon is not, someday, dotted with blinking oil rigs. Sorry to be such a downer, but this has been on my mind a lot lately.
Once again, Peggy, you've taken thoughts I've had (often) and put them in a poem!

I hope our future isn't dotted with multitudes of oil rigs too...
But somewhere there will always be the view that I see...
I hope.
Thanks, sweetie...

24. I'm afraid of the ocean |
|
but when I was a girl, used to swim out in English Bay (Vancouver)when the tide was very low. We could make our way to the hulls of the ships docked, but it was a strange feeling, the seaweed winding round our ankles and touching at our faces like curious fingers. Your poem totally brings it back to me.
