"Trakas Assails Congressman Kucinich's Priorities" - For Immediate Release
Impeachment Resolution Wastes Congress’ Time When It Should Solve Energy Crisis
(INDEPENDENCE) Former State Representative and 10th District Congressional Candidate JimTrakas today expressed dismay at the actions of Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-10) ofCleveland at his misplaced priorities in a doomed attempt to impeach the President.
“On the day his constituents first started paying $4.00 for a gallon of gasoline; Congressman Kucinich uses his time and efforts for more political games and not trying to solve real problemsin Washington.,” said Trakas, of Kucinich’s introduction of impeachment resolution against
President George W. Bush. “Once again Kucinich shows how out of touch he is with Cleveland
and the 10th District. A meaningless piece of legislation that is going nowhere seems to be the
priority of our Congressman, while the constituents of his District suffer.
Noting, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has emphatically said that Congress will not in anyway consider a Presidential Impeachment Resolution; Trakas went on to say, “this just showsthat political games and not real policy discussion is the agenda of Cleveland’s Congressman.
While we suffer from skyrocketing food and fuel prices, due in large part to bad policies fromWashington, and higher than tolerable unemployment, Congressman Kucinich pursues a bizarrepolitical agenda with no chance of passage and that in no way solves our very real problems.”
When his constituent tried to recall him during his failed mayoralty, Congressman Kucinichrepeatedly said that it was a waste of time, deflecting him from his real duties as Mayor.
“Greater Cleveland needs a Congressman who will solve our economic problems, not pursuecompletely unattainable politics for the sake of politics. By wasting his own and the Congress’
precious time, Congressman Kucinich proves what 10th District constituents already know: he isincapable of getting the job done for the people of our area.
Trakas concluded, “Change is indeed what the people of the 10th District are demanding. Today’s
political charade is just another lost opportunity for the people to have an elected official thatprovides results. This effort will fail, as virtually all of Kucinich’s efforts do sadly at a time when
we need effective representation the most to solve the nation’s economic problems. When I am
elected to Congress, the games stop, and real results begin!”
