President Moron strikes again
I've taken it as a sad reality that our dumb president says things like this every day:
"Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible and therefore there needs to be more troops," Bush said in a White House news conference with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
Wow. "Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible ..." Do you think he could even find Baghdad on a map? How our standards have slipped.

2. I heard him say this
as I listened to CBS radio news yesterday. He sounded incredibly fatiqued and kinda like "I'm sick of this shit." He was slow and almost whispered as if he thought those bastards at DU are going to rake me over the coals for this.

10. Did he actually say "Me and General Casey...."?
If so, that really shows his ignorance.

12. Yep. Saw it on my teevee screen.
Actually, it was more like, "Me.....(pause)(pause) and General Caaasey have agreed...".

I have had to put up with that ass since he was gubberner of Texas.

4. Dumbest line of the day:
"....ah some people think these countries aren't ready for democracy...but...but I say look at Baghdad."

I'm working without a transcript here, but that is close to what I heard.

5. When I read that
I wondered, when did he EVER say the violence in Baghdad was "terrible"? Haven't we been hearing for three years that conditions are improving? Peace and Freedom are on the March?

He is such an effin LIAR.

More Q Than A on the Middle East

By Dana Milbank
Wednesday, July 26, 2006; Page A02

There was trouble from the first question at yesterday's news conference by President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

The AP's Tom Raum had just asked a question about the violence in Iraq, and Bush looked down to gather his thoughts before turning to Maliki. "I'll start," the president said.

"Na'am," said Maliki, using the Arabic word for "yes."

"Okay, you start," Bush offered, evidently thinking Maliki had said "no."

"Na'am," Maliki said again.

"You want to start? Go ahead," the perplexed president pressed. Bush had by now put the interpretation device in his ear, an end to the who-goes-first game.

"Na'am," Maliki repeated. "Na'am."

In any language, Bush is having trouble getting to yes in the Middle East.

7. Every Day... Am Just Another Opportunity for Our 'Dear Leader'...
He resembles every other fool in power.

"Violence... is still terrible". Sure, but go deeper. If the violence is terrible, the cure is to add more troops? Okay, the specific situation may call for more troops to suppress acts of violence--though, really, all it will do is make the environment for the factionalists even more "target rich". Yet, on some level, the idea that adding troops to a violent situation is contradictory. It can't help but make matters worse--unless they send in a million troops and simultaneously, from all directions, from the outside-in, go from house to house, car to car, person to person and disarm the entire place (finding every weapon, explosive, cache of ammunition, etc), they'll never make the place less violent. Well, that is, short of convincing the entire population of IRAQ to chose to be peaceful and pursue making their lives better. Alas, that's not likely--there's too much hatred between the many groups; and they really do want a genocide-like ("religious-secticide") solution to their problems.

13. Compare that with the Big Dawg's speech in CT yesterday.
This is not a comment on the substance of the speech or why he was there.

After having seen junior's pathetic "performance" yesterday, my older (voting-age) son and I talked about this while we were watching the replay of Clinton this morning.

Clinton uses words appropriately, and can make a sentence that flows, contains a complete thought and is grammatically correct. He exudes a down-home, southern charm without sounding like an idiot. He speaks in a manner that is easily understood without talking "down" to us like we're a bunch of 6-year-olds. And he didn't smirk once!
