I don't know if anyone on here has done phone banking. The average contact rate is about 10% Of that 10% maybe a quarter are undecided. It's hard and important work however that is with a real person. I can't imagine that these Robocalls are making more than a 1% actually listen to call who are undecided. I just don't see how these things are effective. Anyone got an opinion?

Not only are they effective to only a limited degree, since, as you suggest, the number of people who actually pick up and listen is tiny, but they are effective only where they reinforce a pre-existing disposition to agreement. In short, they work for the side that is on top, but not for the side that is on the bottom.

2. I can only tell you that I NEVER answer a call from a # I don't recognize. |
|
I always check the # on the net to see who it was, and there's only been ONE that I called back because they were the people I bought firewood from last year and they were calling to see if I wanted some this year. I guess there are still a lot of people who still don't have caller ID, and the robo calls do get through. Personally, I HATE THEM! The last one I remember getting was from "Barbara Bush!" Even though I know nobody can hear, I screamed obscenities into the phone and hung up!
