I came to DU to celebrate today's monumental achievement |
|
on the road to health care reform.
Apparently, I've arrived in the wrong place. Can somebody tell me where the Democrats are hanging out?

when there is actually something to celebrate.
and you know what? whatever watered down crap we get isn't something I celebrate just because. besides, don't forget that even if a bill passes the house, it still has to go to conference--and I don't hold out a lot of hope there.
added note: I will celebrate the day we get universal health care, just like in the civilized countries.

4. This day is another milestone, as long as this bill gets voted through.... |
|
If it doesn't, then this will be a day that will mark the end of the Democratic party, and a day that will mark the end of hopes that Health Care reform will ever pass.
That's what today is.

8. OK, I'm not popping a court. |

But getting a vote on a bill is a heck of a lot farther than reform has gotten.

So that's one thing.
But you know Democrats, it is like herding cats.

I've been thinking the same for weeks now.
I honestly think there are more "never liked Obama or Hillary" & Republicans here than Democrats now. It's one of the most bizarre times I can recall at DU - though the primaries were pretty bad.

Frankly, I would consider myself a socialist and I am personally for single payer.
BUT, I am not going to let the quest for perfection be the enemy of the good. This is a big step in the right direction. We can continue to perfect it once we have the framework in place. If we don't do it now, it will never get done.

26. Exactly, exactly, exactly |

I am a socialist at heart too and know that single payer is the system that we ultimately need.
BUT!
I am a pragmatist. I know how to get things done in the real world and that biting off more than you can chew is a recipe for disaster. We WILL continue to perfect it once we have it. There is a reason that the selfish corporate supporting Republicans are "throwing themselves in front of the train". I feel bad for people who haven't learned to compromise. If I was to teach my children to think like these people, I'd be an awful parent.

It's just the anti-reform folks are working themselves into a frothy frenzy since the vote is near. So they are channeling their angst into posts.
