Matt Claman is starting to piss me off....
He can't make up his mind on whether he wants to run for mayor.. and he's starting to tick off his fello' assembly members..

As far as who I'd like to see as our next mayor...

I'm kinda torn between Eric Croft ---> and Dr. Sheila Selkregg --->

Any thoughts on who you'd like to see win this spring?

ABBDS = Anybody But Dan Sullivan!

1. I don't really care...
I've had a professional relationship with Matt, and I personally think following the charter is fine, whether or not he runs. But it doesn't matter to me one way or the other -- just anybody but Dan Sullivan. I'm with you there.

2. Awwww... ok.
If Matt is okay with you, then he's ok by me!

I've never met him, but I was just bummed to see him cut off Dr. Selkregg in mid-conversation during their meeting when the clock hit 4:15 pm the other day.

Maybe he's just a "by the book" kinda guy?

But yeah.. any of them would be better than Sullivan!

I ran into Jack Frost not too long ago and jokingly asked him if he was running again. ..He said "NO WAY, but I'll be supporting one hell of a guy!"

I didn't even ask.. but I knew it wasn't anyone we would approve of!

Jack Frost is a wingnut & a half, but politics aside, he's a kick in the butt to talk to. He'd be fun at a cocktail party after he's had a few..

Incidentally, I haven't made up my mind yet on the mayor thing. I think Diane is supporting Dr. Selkregg. I was at a birthday party tonight that she had for Tony, her best friend/ex-husband/campaign treasurer (a real laugh riot - what a group), and she just mentioned briefly that Sheila had asked for her endorsement. I'm sure I'll be talking more to her about it in the coming months -- I trust her judgment on these things.

Matt helped my youngest out with a little legal issue a few years ago, and we were quite pleased with his representation. He's the councilman from my part of town.

I don't really know Eric Croft, but he seems like a good guy, from what I've seen.

I feel most comfortable supporting people I know, which is why I have always been so staunchly in Diane's corner. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to get to know these people better so I can be an "informed voter."

Dan Sullivan is definitely OUT though. Of course.

4. Matt Claman is doing a great job!
Matt is doing a great job on the Anchorage Assembly. I've seen him in action at the Spenard Community Council. He works hard and brings civility to every forum. He's got my vote for re-election on April 6th!

6. Matt Claman Helped the Ski for Women
It was great to see Matt Claman help wax skis before the start of the Ski for Women last weekend. It's great to see elected officials volunteering in the community!

5. Matt of All Trades
Matt Claman's experienced leadership benefits Anchorage and the community. He cares and it shows. I was struck by a story I saw in the Alaska Ear (Dec. 19, 2009) that reads:

MATT OF ALL TRADES ... Lawyer, Assemblyman, acting mayor and ... medic? Matt Claman's training as an EMT came in handy last week when a woman in an exercise class at a local gym suddenly passed out, smacking her head against the floor. Earwigs in a sweat report Claman did the do-you-know-what-day-it-is bit and the follow-the-finger thing and determined the woman probably had a concussion. When she refused ambulance transport, he drove her to the hospital.

See: http://www.adn.com/news/politics/alaska_ear/story/1063246.html.

Matt Claman's got heart. And he's got my vote!
