Anyone else disappointed in Ritter's appointments?
I wasn't pleased with the SOS appointment, and now the senate seat. I'd really like to understand what Ritter's thought process was.

1. it seems like he's making appointments to build a
political power base for himself - the people he appoints will be loyal to him for their unexpected elevation to high office.

I've never even heard of the guy he's making our next US Senator, and I live in Denver where this dude holds office!

Surely there are better picks than the ones Ritter is making, so it's not out of line to question why he's making them...

2. Your not knowing who the guy is says more about you, doesn't it?
Living in Jeffco, I was counting on Denverites to help us out here!

3. do you know who the Jeffco superintendent of schools is?
no looking on google, now....

This is really a shocking choice, IMO.

Romanoff, Perlemutter, Gordon - all great choices with something Bennet doesn't have - name recognition.

4. I agree - I was hoping for Romanoff.
I can't imagine how he thinks Bennet will be competitive when he faces election. I hope I'm wrong, but this seems to give an opening for the republicans to get this seat back.

5. Yeah, it's Stevenson and I don't even have any kids!
Seriously, though, I'd hate to lose Ed Perlmutter but he would be a very good choice.

You're right about the name recognition. Whoever it is needs to win and I just didn't feel comfortable at all with Hickenlooper's chances. Can you imagine him running on the western slope or northeastern Colorado?

I just got in from grocery shopping and didn't hear anything on the jazz station about the appointment. If it isn't a done deal, I hope Ritter considers the recognition issue. It's crucial for a statewide seat.
