I mean, I know this is Idaho, but the surrounding ultra-red states at least have one or two high profile dems. Utah has a dem congressman. Wyoming has a dem Governor. Nebraska has a dem Senator.

I mean I know that Idaho is RED, but aren't dems at least going to give it a shot?

1. What is Otter doing?
From what I head he is more of a Libertarian Republican along the lines of Ron Paul than a BushCo Neocon.

3. Otter is running for Governor, and he's no Ron Paul
Admittedly he is more of a libertarian than most Republicans, but it's the other way around. He's definately more in line with Bushco than Ron Paul.

2. Larry Grant

Larry Grant, a former Micron vp, is the lone democrat lining up against six republicans for the seat.

Jerry Brady will make another run for Governor, against Otter and Jim Risch.

4. If conditions are ever right for Dem pickups, it's 2006
I don't know how good of a candidate Larry Grant is, but if he's got a shot, I hope that the DSCC supports him. If he has a chance, he'll get heavy dem turnout (cause hey, a Democrat might win in Idaho) and there will probably be low Bush turnout, plus the GOP faithful isn't used to there being a threat from a dem.

This is the kind of thing that we need to be doing to take back the country. Back in the 70's and 80's, states like Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, etc. were still fairly solid red on the presidential level, but they often had Dem congressmen, Dem Senators, and Dem Governors.

5. This is a seat we have held
We lost it in the Republican revolution. The only Dem that could take this is Dan Williams, who ran strongly against Helen Chenoweth when she had the seat.
