It is Illinois. And in the suburbs.
For the record, I live in the 9th district. Jan Schakowsky is my representative.

i know that from baaaahston the whole metro area looks like chicago. but believe me, the voters in the 6th do not appreciate being lumped in with the city. that is the core of their existence, the seat of their sense of self worth, that they do not live in the big bad city. and i only point it out to emphasize how stupid this move is from the "all politics is local" point of view. rahm could have convinced jesus christ to run, and most people would vote against him because he was sent by the rich guys in chicago. however, regarding this news- :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: (but i want to know what y'all have done with pat mogee.)

O'Hare is in the district, and I thought that O'Hare was in Chicago.

4. o'hare is connected to the city by a thread. |
|
it is really in the suburbs, but the powers that be (or were) hung on to it for the patronage/money. if you look at a map, the expressway out there, and the airport itself, are just hanging out there. this is why expansion of o'hare was fought tooth and nail, and has been THE political issue in every suburban race for over a decade. since most of the second tier businesses out there are in the suburbs, and so many of the o'hare job are held by suburbanites, it is a textbook example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. the city/suburb divide started to narrow when they started coming to the city, hat in hand, trying to get lake michigan water. i'm sure rahm knows all this shit, but he is ignoring tip o'neil's cardinal rule, nonetheless.
