RE: Senator Kerry's message to his supporters asking them to contribute to Tammy Duckworth in the Illinois 6th

I am no longer interested in receiving updates from a man who would take sides in a primary House race, especially going against Christine Cegelis, the candidate who has worked the district for two years, and who is backed by most of the Democrats in the district.

The senator showed one spark of understanding of the Democratic grassroots by trying to mount a filibuster against Samuel Alito, but now he has gone back into DC-bunker mode. I'm no longer interested in hearing what he has to say.

1. You do realize you e-mailed his senate staff. . .
. . .who have NOTHING to do with the e-mail sent yesterday. The e-mail would have come from his campaign staff, not his senate staff. It would have been illegal of his senate staff to send yesterday's e-mail, but of course you already knew that. . .right?

3. Does Murtha have a problem with that?
Maybe we should ask Murtha his opinion of this race, if he comes out in support of Tammy would it then be fair for Kerry to have mentioned him? You know this is not a ONE ISSUE race, just because Cegelis may be more in tune with Murtha on Iraq it does not necessarily mean he would back her in the primary.

Give me a break!

4. if elected dems had not scurried to back away from him
people would not be so po'ed that kerry is invoking his name. he is pretty emblematic of the good dems who are left twisting in the wind by the pink tutus. really, now that people are getting a good look at these 'fighting dems' they are seeing that a lot of them are good soldiers, but not leaders, and not likely to be fighters for us in d.c.
and especially in this race- tammy mouths the bush line, and cegelis has stated plainly that she supports murtha, and his bill.
keep it up, you pink tutus. thank for firing up our base.

5. maybe others "scurried", BUT NOT KERRY
Your post really pisses me off. I am tired of hearing that lie. You're probably only picking up and slinging the muck that others have thrown before you, but you are mistaken.

http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/index.php?s=Murtha
be sure to go to the second page to see how John Kerry initially responded to the attacks on Murtha (yes there are two pages of results about Kerry supporting Murtha). Also be sure to note that not only John, but Teresa and also Jim Rassman (the guy Kerry saved in Nam) spoke out in defense of Murtha and against the Republican smears.

John Kerry has been REPEATEDLY invoking the Murtha situation as an example of the repulsive behavior of Republicans. I haven't seen anything where Murtha is asking him to stop.

7. He's probably had those conversations in private.
Refresh my memory - who were the worst offenders, of the Dems? (Lieberman, I'm guessing, but who else?)

An interesting note here is that Murtha's plan is not all that different than Kerry's, in how it would play out. Kerry presented his plan a couple weeks earlier, to deafening silence in the media. Murtha, otoh, got lots of attention because until then he'd been seen as a hawk. Kerry never supported the invasion - Murtha did. So it was an "epiphany" thing for Murtha, and I believe that is why he drew all the attention - and fire. So I see Kerry and Murtha as pretty much allied now on the issues of Iraq and the republican smear tactics. And I've seen no sign from Murtha that I'm wrong.

9. So we DO have to be a lockstep party?
As long as we lockstep to the bongos of the left? "distancing" is hardly an attack, and if I recall, Pelosi supports Murtha's plan and pissed off the Hillary backers when she did it.

10. you can call it what you want- but when a brave man steps up
and others shrink back, even a little, those shrinking violets ought not to go around trading on that man's name. especially on behalf of the candidate of big money.
welcome to the illinois forum. not.

11. Pelosi didn't shrink back
So you were wrong to begin with. And just because you agree with Murtha, it doesn't make him any braver than someone standing up who has a different opinion. Not to mention, he wasn't the first to stand up and say we were contributing to the violence and needed a phased withdrawal anyway.

12. You do understand that his senate staffers have NOTHING to do with the PAC
Right? I hope David Wade gave an epic eyeroll like this :eyes: when he deleted your message, especially as the Senate staff has ZILCH to do with Kerry's PAC.
