http://www.press-citizen.com/article/20091216/NEWS01/912160334/1079 The he-man shot it out of a tree. One BRAVE individual. Killing something for the sake of killing. It's beyond me.

1. Some people are ***holes.
Some ***holes have guns.

Some ***holes with guns have zero comprehension of the natural world.

I would love to put this guy up in a tree and use him for target practice.

Want to join me???

This is the sort of guy who finally gets married when he can run fast enough to club a woman from behind.

2. I can truly understand hunting deer for the venison.
It's not my cup of tea, but it is what it is. This fuck thought about nothing except how it would look on his wall. Probably a Gawd fearing manly man. Goes to church on Sundays and thanks Gawd for the courage to be the mighty white hunter. Fucking Bunghole Bill.
I do laugh whenever one of these folks shoot themselves or another fellow hunter. That Gawd. He's got a twisted sense of humor.

4. Deer herds actually need to be reduced periodically to keep the
number of deer within the carrying capacity of their territory.

I understand people who actually hunt for meat, yes.

But in my book, "sport" hunting doesn't include shooting a cat up a tree.

6. I've met a # of hunters who do it for the meat, Sal.
But I've met as many who just love to kill. And they don't stop at deer. Coyote, crows...whatever they see. Just to kill. Just can't understand this mindset.

9. My guess is, there was survival value in this behavior millenia ago,
and so the behavior was selected for.

But the "mighty hunters" now aren't killing each other off fast enough to extirpate this "shoot everything" instinct from our species. (One can always hope, I suppose.)

And then, there are the "hunters" like Cheney, shooting hand-raised birds specially released from cages (when he's not shooting attorneys).

How these people can do this without simply dying of sheer embarrassment is beyond me . . .

10. They simply don't care, Sal.
Having a cocktail. Shooting an animal. No difference to these people.

3. The news coverage is really pissing me off
Number one story on KCRG this morning, and they act like this guy is some kind he-man or something. He's nothing but a cowardly, dirtbag s.o.b.

5. Figures it happened in Marengo, Blue.
What a shithole. Never met a person I liked from the hideous town and I've had plenty of business dealings with a bunch of 'em. Asshole repubs and mean as snakes. Everytime I look at this deal it pisses me off more.

7. Heartbreaking
She was such a beautiful creature. Breathtaking. I grew up on a farm and with a lot of sustenance hunters. I know all of the arguments for killing a wild cat. In the end, I can't say they hold much truck with me. Your chances of dying from a tree falling on you are about thirty times more likely than from an encounter with a mountain lion. It's selfish and disrespectful of our place as humans here in this world to kill the cat and then claim it's for everyone's safety. That's what they said about all kinds of other atrocities. Doing it for everyone's good, my ass.
