Senate hopeful Rand Paul pitches spending cuts in poor region
http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20100328/NEWS01/3280349/Senate+hopeful+Rand+Paul+pitches+spending+cuts+in+poor+region

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul took his pitch for cutting federal spending to an impoverished region of Kentucky that has come to depend on congressional money to pay for a variety of initiatives, including fighting drugs, cleaning up the environment, building highways and distributing clean drinking water to remote communities.

Paul, the front-runner in the race, said he refused to alter his message about the evils of budgetary earmarks when he spoke on Saturday to about 400 county-level GOP leaders from across Southern and Eastern Kentucky at a dinner in Corbin.

“I give the same message in every county after every county,” said Paul, who is facing Secretary of State Trey Grayson and three other Republican candidates seeking to replace retiring Sen. Jim Bunning, who opted not to seek a third term.

...

A Bowling Green eye surgeon, Paul criticized Washington insiders for “selling their souls” to get federal funds for pet projects.

1. Don't know
I don't know if I enjoy seeing that nut Rand Paul cause Trey Grayson to have to spend a lot of money on the primary or if he just scares me so bad I wish he wasn't running. That stunt in Frankfort with him surrounded by heavily armed militia guys was way over the top and scary. What are they going to do? Drive around looking for evil liberals to shoot? People with Obama stickers or other "liberal" identification? Makes you wonder. The sad part is that I think Paul COULD actually get elected in Kentucky, and that's really unsettling.
