2006 Gubernatorial Outlook Site
Found this site, "MyDD" with a list of Gubernatorial Outlooks across the nation for 2006.

http://www.mydd.com/story/2004/11/15/12121/828.

From the Modern Vertebrate:
http://www.modernvertebrate.com/elections/2006-national/governor.html

"Maryland (R-Ehrlich) - Ehrlich is likely to see a strong challenge from the Democrats. Possible candidates include Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley, Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan or attorney Robin Ficker."

Here's' what the Repuks are saying: (Sorry)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1341367/posts.

O'Malley's name is more well-known and it appears the Freepers really want Duncan. I say no way to Duncan and stay w/O'Malley. He's more appealing, and stands strong against the Gov's smear campaigns.

1. Robin Ficker??????????????????
I wish Ficker would run in the primaries against Ehrlich, that would be a riot. Ficker is a Republican these days. Ficker is the epitome of the narcissistic perennial candidate. He's been running for office for the last 32 years and has won once, I believe, to the House of Delegates.

3. Ficker already announced
his campaign for Montgomery County Executive. Should be fun.

4. If this site included Ficker as a "possible candidate" along with O'Malley
and Duncan - I would say they have limited knowledge of Maryland politics. Yes, Ficker might be a candidate - in the same way that Alan Keyes might be a candidate, but no one is going to take him seriously and he sure as heck won't get a major party nomination.

9. That's even worse for him. They know him in Montgomery County.
It's possible he could pick up a few votes in "Red County" Maryland where they don't know about all of his past misfires. Be funny as heck if he did run in the Pubbie primary and give Bobby "goodhair" Ehrlich a little scare.

6. Did he or did he not know.. Big "E"...
I'm still not convinced that big "E" had much to do with the smear tactics. When you have so many people working for you sometimes people under you do dumb things that think it will help you. Plus big "E" fired the guy right away.

Now don't get me wrong, I do see a problem with the entire situation, I just haven't been convinced that big "E" knew or planned anything with it.

As for O'Mally.. Do you live in Baltimore? There is a lot wrong with Baltimore, lets start off with the 270+ homicides last year and the year before. I shouldn't feel like I have to carry a gun just to protect myself and my family.

Lets continue with I saw a city clean up crew over on Hanover street during the big city wide clean up.. Well, they put the trash in bags... that was 3 months ago.. the trash is still in the bags on the sides of the streets in the back alleys. No one picked up the trash bags.. what a waste of government funding to do all that work and not get the trash bags after.

If he can't fix Baltimore.. how is he going to fix the state.

Isn't their another Democrat that is running other than O'Malley??

10. Duncan also has a better record of opposing slots than O'Malley
It slots passes this year and gets signed by Guv. Goodhair, I am betting (heh) there will be a successful petition drive to get the issue on the ballot. I believe according to Maryland law a referendum on legislation has to take place at the next congressional election, which is 2006. So the slots referendum would get caught up in the governor's race - good for Duncan and bad for O'Malley and Ehrlich, imo.

You're welcome! Sorry about that.

Started a thread moments ago with regards to an online site listing all Democrat Clubs and Groups in Maryland w/email addresses, phone numbers, web sites, etc. at:

http://www.baltcodems.org/clubs.html

I suggest we get out there and do what we can before Oct 2005.

12. I am an O'Malley man all the way
he will hammer Ehrlich. O'MAlley is no Kathleen Kennedy townshend, and with all luck, Ehrlich's ace will be gone in a senate race. If Ehrlich can't find another black man, he will lose even more votes.

15. Hey may pull a higher percentage of the African-American vote...
But he will lose some support in counties like Baltimore, Howard, and Fredick that he would get if he was teamed up with Ehrlich.
