2. Several years ago - right after I had been laid off - I was speaking to Entenza
Edited on Fri Apr-24-09 12:23 PM by dflprincess
about the fact that people who worked in other states and had been effected by the layoff had to be paid whatever vacation time they had accrued and this did not affect their severence pay. Minnesota, however, has no such law and we were screwed (though the company "generously" paid us up to a week of accrued time). He actually seemed to be interested in this until he asked where I had been laid off from. As soon as I told him, he couldn't get away from me fast enough. At the time his wife was a wheel at the company (look it up if you must) - I suppose he didn't want to do anything that might upset the people that were providing a good part of his income at the time - even though what I was talking about applied to every company in the state not just the one that was feeding him.

I wouldn't trust him for that reason alone but then there was that weasly thing he pulled a couple years ago about hiring a PI to go after dirt on Hatch. What was up with that?

3. So...public disclosure....what was the name of the firm where you worked?
If he has ties to it that have that create THAT intense a conflict-of-interest for the guy, everybody needs to know. For the good of everybody in your state, out with it, princess!

At the time (this was in September 2004) his wife, Lois Quam, was an officer with Ovations which is part of the Evil Empire otherwise known as United Health Group.

I knew she was no longer there so when I saw your post I did a search and found this:

Health Care, Alternative Energy/Clean Technology Expertise
Lois Quam to lead Piper Jaffray equity investment initiatives

Piper Jaffray enhanced its leadership in health care and the emerging alternative energy/clean technology sector with the addition of Lois Quam, who joins the firm as Managing Director, Alternative Investments.

In this newly created leadership position, Quam will be responsible for managing Piper Jaffray equity investment offerings in health care and alternative energy/clean technology. These new offerings will extend the private capital funds Piper Jaffray currently manages.

Quam joins Piper Jaffray from UnitedHealth Group, where she helped build the company into one of the fastest growing health-care organizations in United States, and led the formation and growth of United’s public and seniors businesses, which now earn over $30 billion in annual revenue.

“Piper Jaffray has established a leadership position in health care and the emerging alternative energy/clean technology sector—an area of strong opportunity for the company,” said Andrew Duff, chairman and CEO of Piper Jaffray. “Adding Lois’ business experience and expertise to our team extends our capabilities in these two important, high-growth sectors, and establishes a focused leadership position that will be instrumental as we continue to build proprietary investment capabilities.”

Yep - health care as an investment opportunity - sounds good to me. :sarcasm:

5. Well, thanks for telling me!

Anyone who wants laid-off workers to get a decent severance deal "except for this one place that I have ties to" is a person that is inherently undeserving of a Democratic nomination.

6. Entenza has more baggage than a Greyhound bus
Read this:

Entenza will lie and backstab anyone who gets in his way in his never-ending quest for power. He thinks Minnesota can't do without his brilliance, so he keeps trying to buy his way into one office or the other with his wife's United Health millions. It's for the good of the party and the state that DFLers keep this guy from getting the nomination.

7. And I would like to know how he got my email address
asking for money..

As far as I know, the only politicians who have it were the Edwards and the Hillary campaigns, and whatever spinoff Hillary's now.
