Lots of people must be mad at KC Star for absolutely awful
News coverage lately.

I know I e-mailed them twice about the total absence of coverage on the Middle East. And I can tell from the letters that lots of other people must have done the same.

I really think I will just cancel the paper - it is worthless to me if they aren't going to cover the world news. And just buy the NYT every day instead.

1. There were some pretty nasty letters today
You can rest assured you are not alone.

I am also stunned by the criticism Diuguid is receiving for his column on the Boulevard Beer sign.

2. I got answers to my e-mails but they didn't say one thing -
just that they would pass along my feelings.

I haven't been following the one you mentioned but a friend of mine mentioned it. What is that all about?

The Start his morning has a little coverage on the war - but not all that much. When you consider that CBS and Lehrer both spent most of their show on the subject I find it just wierd that the paper has chosen to just sort of mention it all in passing.

Makes me wonder what is really going on.

4. I suggested that and got slammed.
I guess McClatchy lets the locals handle their own papers.

We do have better world coverage today - but it is still not up to par.

5. Diuguid's column
was about the sign that Boulevard Brew put up. It was a picture of 4 types of beer and the caption was "Eeney, meeney, miney, moe"

6. They are ignoring us too, it seems
My group hosted a forum where SIX mayoral candidates came to speak and answer questions. Only two local media people were there (from the Pitch and KKFI) despite contacting the Star and other media outlets.
