Contrary to popular belief, Lincoln is not the only part of the state with more than a few liberals.

7. Thank you - I was in Omaha in Sept. 2003 and I thought it was a very

nice place to live. I didn't know there were liberals there - my impression when I was there was that it was heavily slanted towards white-bread, middle American, Christian conservatives - obviously I didn't look very deep. I tried to visit the Black History Museum, but it was closed (on a Saturday).

Hastings has an lively arts community, some fun locally owned shops and an Imax theater. Grand Island has a water park that is the just the best little known secret.

If you fish, hunt, do anything wildlife/outdoorsy you are in luck.

And you can always take day trips to Lincoln or Omaha.

9. I just got back to Nebraska

after living in Texas for a year. I'm actually excited that I'm going to have seasons again! Nebraska's not so bad. At least it's real conservatives, as opposed to crazies and not neo-cons like in Texas.
