KTRC-AM (1260) in Santa Fe to pick up AAR programming
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 08:25 AM by Fighting Irish
This is the same station that airs Thom Hartmann.

"Santa Fe is a natural for us," said Jon Sinton, president of Air America, in a telephone interview Monday. "We're very excited."Air America, which broadcasts on more than 40 stations and two satellite networks, features shows hosted by left-of-center entertainers such as comedians Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, rapper Chuck D and country singer Steve Earle as well as liberal commentators such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Mike Malloy and Randi Rhodes.

The network was supposed to begin airing on KTRC on Monday, but technical difficulties with satellite equipment delayed the debut until today or Wednesday, Sinton said.KTRC, which is owned by the AGM radio group, for years broadcast left-leaning programs from the I.E. America Network, which was affiliated with the United Auto Workers union.

However, I.E. America shut down early this year. KTRC kept one of the old I.E. America shows, The Thom Hartmann Radio Program, but added ultra-conservative talk shows such as Worldnet Daily Radio Active.

Last spring, a Texas radio company announced that it would bring Air America to Santa Fe. However, those plans fell through. "I don't know what happened to those guys," Sinton said.

2. I Heard Them Monday Night!
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 12:30 PM by Lady Sonelle
I have a great difficulty in getting to sleep at night. I tend to lie in bed quietly with My radio headphones on. Up until Monday night, it was a choice between right wing drivel and Coast to Coast. *shudder8 talk about Scylla and Charybdis!

At any rate, I heard Randi Rhodes on Monday night and was sure it was Barbra Streisand!

I'm *that* chuffed that we now have a listening alternative! I shall inform the station of My great pleasure and that I intend to be supporting the station's sponsors whenever I hear their adverts (I shall be taking notes and aiming My wallet accordingly!)

3. KTRC gone over to dark side?
KTRC playing right wing 106.3 tonight (March 29, 05). Hope it's only a temporary back slide. Give me my Al Frankin! Some of the others on Air America Radio are worth listening to too. But Al's show is by far one of the most intelligent on progressive radio and NO comparable quality on right-wing-wacko radio.

I don't know what the hell is going on.

Monday, two thirds through Al Franken (at noon) they swiched over to ESPN Sports Radio (these people have an ESPN station too). Then at 1:00 pm they switched over to a simulcast of Dianne Anderson's show on 106.whatever-the-station-in-Albuquerque-is.

I thought, "OK, this must be a fluke." Earlier this year they cut off the last hour of Randi Rhodes' show and was playing MICHAEL REAGAN *ick* for a whole week. But they remedied that.

Last night I checked to see if Mike Malloy was going to be on, but alas, it was RUSTY HUMPHRIES *ick again*.

This morning, it was LARRY AHRENS instead of AAR's "Unfiltered."

I called the station to complain. Then I tried calling Democratic HQ in Santa Fe, but their number's not listed.

One of the sponsors when it was AAR on the radio is Cardrageous on Guadalupe in SF. Maybe we should call them and ask them if they know AAR is no longer being aired....

Gads, CONSERVATIVE radio in SANTA FE? May it not continue!

5. This sort of thing is my biggest fear in terms of all the Clear Channel
stations currently airing AAR. They can pull the plug anytime, I guess.

We're terribly vulnerable. I wish they had stuck with their plan to buy stations...there a couple of hundred FM stations on the auction block that will probably be snapped up by RW preachers. They are mostly in the South and West. AAR could have blanketed the whole damned area....

6. And during AAR's anniversary week, too
I am VERY upset.

My computer has been on the fritz (on a borrowed one now) for several months. So no streaming of the anniversary shows for me.
