There's a slew of good bars and clubs downtown that are usually packed on weekend nights...
If you like beer, check out Billy's Long Bar on San Mateo. They have something like 50+ beers on tap. Also, The Copper Lounge on University and Central has $2 pints on Tuesday and Thursday. That includes premium beer like Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, etc. I'd also recommend the Blue Corn Brewery tasting room downtown -- all microbrew and delicious.
If clubs are more your thing, check out Sauce/Raw downtown.
There's a decent local music scene around ABQ. Some of my favorite local bands include Nosotros (kind of like Gipsy Kings), and Felonious Groove Foundation (funk, jazz). You might want to pick up a weekly Alibi newspaper to get a feel for ABQ nightlife...New issues come out every Thursday. It lists venues and music schedules for the week and also covers the progressive political scene fairly well. They have a website at www.alibi.com
