Republicans propose new re-districting plans

Meanwhile our SOS has gone on a wild goose chase to dismantle touchscreen voting in favor of paper and scanning technology (that sucks).

I have got to say that I am disappointed with her and a new AG that runs around looking to see how many people he can sue.

We are facing a budget deficit of catastrophic proportions and there's not even discussion on this board about priorities.

The Presidential debates are reported by the AP to be coming to Ohio near the end of February. Perhaps we can think up some questions and talking points by then.

Hello, is anyone out there?

1. Let's ask our State's unitary executive what to do.
since he's not subject to laws, codes, treaties, regulations, etc... And aren't AGs and SOSs just minor toadies who can't remember what they're supposed to do anyway. Just kiddin'

CALLING GOVERNOR STRICKLAND...

Isn't dividing and conquering inherently a partisan effort? Nothing lasts forever!

What cities will candidates visit? Anybody know yet?

2. I became annoyed, perhaps mildly incensed
that the incoming Ohio elephant chief Kevin Dewine got quoted in a leadership role on this, but our own chair has had nothing to say that I have been able to find (AP, state D website, Columbus Dispatch).

The Democratic debate is tentatively scheduled for the 27th, no location announced yet, to be jointly determined by CNN and The Party.

4. You don't want to know my real opinion on our SOS
I have more than stated that on a number of occasions on this board in numerous postings. She has been a great big disappointment to me and this dismantling of the touchscreen voting is just another idiotic tirade of hers. It will cost the counties a boat load of money which they already spent on the touch screen machines after they were told they wouldn't be changed out again!!! At least our Treasurer and Governor have their priorities in line, I guess 2 out of 4 ain't bad!

5. "Now that (Dems) hold those seats on the Apportionment Board, they (the GOP)want to effect change,"
House Minority Leader Joyce Beatty of Columbus said despite Wolpert's claim that the proposal is bipartisan, he did not consult with her about his ideas before the proposal was put forward.

"Now that we hold those seats (on the Apportionment Board) they want to effect change," Beatty said.

Gov Strickland should veto this unless he's an idiot*

*no touch rules for nudie bars,
conceding the L. Erie shoreline to the adjacent land owners,
concealed carry (he got out from under that one)

7. Why post just the headline and link and then rant about something entirely different?
A bipartisan, independent commission would change the geographical makeup of the districts represented by state lawmakers and members of the U.S. House under a plan soon to be introduced in the Ohio Legislature with the backing of Republican House Speaker Jon Husted.

The plan by state Rep. Larry Wolpert, a Hilliard Republican, will call for a seven-member commission to decide legislative and congressional districts. Legislative districts are currently drawn by the state Apportionment Board, while congressional districts are drawn by the Legislature.

/snip/

House Minority Leader Joyce Beatty of Columbus said despite Wolpert's claim that the proposal is bipartisan, he did not consult with her about his ideas before the proposal was put forward.

"Now that we hold those seats (on the Apportionment Board) they want to effect change," Beatty said.
