WLW's Bill Cunningham embarrasses McCain at rally

<<CINCINNATI (AP) - Republican John McCain quickly denounced the comments of a radio talk show host who while warming up a campaign crowd referred repeatedly to Barack Hussein Obama and called the Democratic presidential candidate a "hack, Chicago-style" politician.

Hussein is Obama's middle name, but talk show host Bill Cunningham used it three times as he addressed the crowd before the likely Republican nominee's appearance.

"Now we have a hack, Chicago-style Daley politician who is picturing himself as change. When he gets done with you, all you're going to have in your pocket is change," Cunningham said as the audience laughed. <<

This got wide play at the top of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. It would be funny if not for the maliciousness of the attacks against Obama -- I don't care what side you're on, this was uncalled for. Cunningham also called Obama "Prophet" at one point. McCain was pissed and quickly distanced himself from it, and said that including Obama's middle name was unnecessary.

Welcome to Cincy, John! :hi:

1. Here's another link, from an AP story
that's on Yahoo's front page.

Whaddya think? Was it all planned? We here in SW Ohio know what a jerk Cunningham is and I'll bet he's loving the national attention he's getting. Even Rob Portman chuckled.

If Obama gets the nomination, expect more -- lots more of the same sleazy barbs.

4. Bill was doing the "What? Who Me?" routine.
Of course he was playing to his fans who were loving every minute of it...McCain, not so much, and I have to give grudging props to him for recognizing a smear when he saw it.

I had to laugh at Channel 12's 5 p.m. news, though...they said that Clear Channel owned both WKRC and WLW, but that CC was in the process of selling the TV station. They spent more time with the disclaimer than they did covering the story. Talk about putting as much distance between themselves and 700 as possible....LOL.

Oh yes...it will get a lot worse should Obama get the nomination. It will be a true litmus test of our maturity as a society and as a country. Well, at least we know where one person falls on that spectrum...sort of between fourth and fifth grade. But, THAT'S OUR BILL!

6. & if someone calls Bill a racist he chants - "Leslie Isaiah Gaines"
Decades ago, Bill used to work for a law firm owned by Judge Gaines & his wife.

Bill often engages in racist tirades and then loves to claim he has many black friends, for eg. the Gaines couple.

8. Anderson Cooper on Willie on last night's 360:
"A two-bit radio personality." AC said it with that smirk of his, too.

And I bet John McCain is devastated...completely devastated. Willie has withdrawn his support.

3. Obama had 13,000 people at his rally in Cinci yesterday
while McCain spoke to 300. That's gotta count for something. Hopefully those 13,000 folks recognize what a fool Cunningham is.
