Refuse To Show Photo ID When Voting During Recall Elections and Still Vote
The provision was added to confuse voters into believing they must show ID to vote in the recall elections, hoping to suppress Democratic voters in order to keep the radical-right stranglehold on Wisconsin. Don't be fooled, you don't have to show ID to vote until 2012!

The provision was added as part of the adopted Assembly Substitute Amendment 2 in section 144 (2) Special Procedure at Elections Held Prior to 2012 Spring Primary. The relevant text is:
"...an elector who votes at a polling place at an election held prior to the date of the 2012 spring primary shall be requested by the election officials to present proof of identification, but if the elector does not present proof of identification, and the elector is otherwise qualified, the elector’s ballot shall be counted without the necessity of presenting proof of identification and without the necessity of casting a provisional ballot."

Please help ensure that every voter in Wisconsin knows that even though they'll be asked, they don't have to show photo ID to vote in the recall elections.

2. Poll workers won't like this any more than we do
Next year, they will be the ones who have to explain to people that suddenly they can't vote anymore because they don't have a photo ID and they're out of luck for this election. At least the information sheet will help publicize the changes so people can try to be ready.

11. It probably couldn't be reversed until 2013.
Even if Walker is recalled and Democrats regain control of the Senate it still leaves the Assembly in control of Republicans.

10. I am not working the recalls, sadly my Senator was not eligible.

So I haven't been trained at all yet.

Which makes me lol and sad writing because it will be the stupid fucking law by the time I do. So I realize my error and please disregard my previous "I'll be working the polls" statement.

12. How about if there is an organized action to encourage voters
to write on the paper "Recall Walker".

7. Too bad I'm not in a recall district
I probably wouldn't be allowed to vote without an ID anyway.

Last year the guy in front of me tried to use a UWM ID for identification and was given hell by some n00b poll worker who I had never seen before.

In my ward, we have some loyal poll workers who do it every election. This guy who wouldn't let the student vote had never been there before and was very snotty to everyone there to vote and even the other (way more experienced) poll workers who tried to correct him.

Mine is an majority black, low-income, Democratic City of Milwaukee ward. I think this guy might have been some conservative who just wanted to make a mess of the voting here. I've seen right-wing 'poll watchers' here in the past who were harassing people, so I guess we're on somebody's radar.

16. Look up your state's laws on how poll watchers are
supposed to conduct themselves.

If they are unauthorized people, or not following the law, call your election authority right away.

18. they should have been reported.
Report it to your election authority with the person's name. Be sure to inform them in a firm yet polite manner that you will be reporting this matter immediately upon leaving.

Another way if someone is polling outside be sure to tell them about your experience and tell the name of the worker. Contact the media and tell them what happened. Once names get out all hell will break loose.

19. Even here in Oshkosh,
I've had a conservative "poll watcher" try mix things up in the liberal ward I live in. He started asking questions when I gave them my name about if it was my address and if I had proof. I asked him if he was a poll worker. He said no. I told him to "shut the hell up, then" and loudly enough so everyone in line could hear reminded him that "he had no authority to stop me from voting for any reason." I hate douchebags like that.
