Where do things stand re the Hillsborough tragedy?
Edited on Sat Oct-31-09 04:07 PM by ailsagirl
I've kind of lost track-- I suppose the cover-up stayed in place
and those responsible were let go with impunity??

Just a heartbreaking story.

1. Good Question.
The wikipedia page offers a good general overview and a lot of pertinent links.

P.S. I still hate the Hollies.

4. Thanks, oldironside
That's OK about the Hollies. :)
Didn't they name themselves after Buddy Holley?
I know the Brits loved him. What's not to love?
He had some damn fine stuff out-- what a pity
his life was cut short. :(

5. Buddy Holly was great...
... but a bit limited, mainly because he died at 23 (this fact may not be true, since I got it from Wikipedia). We'll never know how he would have developed if he'd lived.

However, I will hate the Hollies until my dying day. Nothing personal. :-)

6. I understand...
It's a pity that so many have died young. Very sad about
John Entwistle -- he was superb. But Keith Moon was an
accident waiting to happen-- but what a drummer!!

2. Nothing really new has been done, as far as I'm aware
There was talk recently about allowing the release of secret files about the disaster, but so far as I know, nothing has come of that as yet.

It was indeed an awful tragedy.

3. I read the book by Phil Scraton...
"Hillsborough: The Truth," and was appalled. My heart went
out to the victims-- such a cliche but true.

I think it should be required reading.
