1. I got 4 out of 10 too, and I think I'm well-read (but I've never read Tolstoy or
Hardy).

9. Don't feel bad.
I got 3 out of 10. And if I hadn't gotten the Tolstoi question, it would have been 2 out of 10. Oh, and Dickens.

Russian literature I know backwards, though; just taught a survey class on it. Andreev? Babel'? Sumarokov? Baratynsky? I'm your man.

But most English-language literature? Joyce? Austen? Forget it.

Gotta go read some Borges. If it's not Russian literature (or Czech, or Polish) then it's Spanish.

12. Me too.
I don't like a lot of those books, personally.

13. I got the Tolstoy one.
Yay me! Having read a background of Anna Karenina. I forget the other one that messed me up.

7. I don't like classic literature but I got 4 out of 10
I read over 6 to 7 books a week. I really do. If I get one I like I stay up all night. When I was younger I used to take them in the kitchen and still read while I was fixing dinner. My husband used to have a fit and couldn't understand how I could read and cook. I also used to read books while watching TV. I can't concentrate like that now tho.

10. I did dismally and I'd read them all
so I guess the first lines weren't what made those novels memorable.

17. 4 out of 10, and some of the four were lucky guesses
The only one I was sure about was Sense and Sensibility. Some of them I'd never read, and some so long ago that memory no longer served.
