I know it's not non-fiction, but I started reading 1984 |
|
I am like 30 or 40 pages into it and there are some very interesting similarities between the book and present day. I started a list of things in the book. I bet Karl Rove considers this book as the Good Book instead of the Bible. Big Brother is the Bu$h Cabal's fantasy.
Anyone else read this book?

7. Hey I statrted reading it for the second time a couple days ago. |
|
In addition to being prophetic, it is gripping, IMO.
I have a paperback copy that was printed in 1984 as a special 1984 edition of 1984.
I am going to bed in a few and will read it for awhile.
I would like to read Animal Farm, another of Orwell's books.

8. Animal Farm is a great book |
|
I read it in high school and loved it. I didn't even like to read when I was in high school.

9. Both 1984 & Animal Farm are classics |
|
Animal Farm is the reason I can't stand fat on any meat. I have always pictured Ronald Reagan as the fat pig in the book with greasy jowls from eating steak while looking out the windows at the hungry animals on the other side.

A very long time ago, and on December 31, 1983.
When you finish with 1984, you should read It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. It won't take you long to note the similarities there as well.

How far are we? Wars are being fought to rally the masses, we are in a constant economic slump, the government is constantly breaking its promises....
But the good news is that the Bush government is not nearly as successful as Big Brother's. They do not, as of yet, control the past.
