I just received the 2006 Almanac of American Politics! |

It is a really great resource. Gives a lot of information about each Governor and all the members US Congress.
Gives their lifetime ratings from a variety of organizations, both right and left, a bio, district info, past races, you get the idea.

Michael Barone's writeups of elected officials are very smirky and condescending.
Baronism can be summed up as the following:
1) Most Americans are Republican and conservative.
2) George W. Bush was chosen by God for the presidency. He is a leader of Churchillian greatness and stature.
3) Capitalism is the most beautiful thing on the planet. It is the solution for all of the world's problems.
4) Democrats can only win elections by being more like Republicans.

Doesn't Barone write for the New Republic? That's bad enough!
Is there a similar resource which would shed a kinder light on the progressive side of things?
Not to worry, though, I'm not much for corporatists or their politics. I'll read Bernie Sanders & Ron Paul first, that should give me some idea.
