Kings Of The Hill : How Nine Powerful Men Changed The Course Of American History
Author: Lynne V. Cheney, Richard Cheney

Book Description:

From Henry Clay to Newt Gingrich -- the men who ruled Congress and changed the course of American history

Since the early days of our country, leaders in the House of Representatives have exerted tremendous force and influence on government policy and consequently on both domestic and world affairs. Now, two prominent public figures profile nine of America's most provocative, colorful, and controversial congressional leaders: Henry Clay, James Polk, Thaddeus Stevens, James Blaine, Thomas Reed, Joe Cannon, Nicholas Longworth, Sam Rayburn, and Newt Gingrich. Capturing the personalities of these men in revealing anecdotes, the Cheneys present a telling chronicle of how power in the House affects not only congressional politics, but the nation as a whole.

3. "Whopper of the Week" from Slate, circa 2001
"I don't remember the plot."
--Lynne Cheney to New York Times reporter Melinda Henneberger on being asked to comment on the 1981 novel, Sisters.

"Let us go away together, away from the anger and imperatives of men. There will be only the two of us, and we shall linger through long afternoons of sweet retirement. In the evenings I shall read to you while you work your cross-stitch in the firelight. And then we shall go to bed, our bed, my dearest girl."
--Love letter from one woman character to another in Sisters, as quoted by Henneberger.

5. She wrote another book too...
about a president who was basically a loosely camouflaged stand-in for her husband. It was mentioned in the Book "Angler" several times, but I don't remember the name of it...

6. Lynne's written, and co-authored, a number of books, one, comically, entitled
"Telling The Truth."

The price for a used copy of "Sisters" STARTS at $49.96.
