Rory McIlroy is having a pretty good day |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-17-11 11:49 AM by fishwax
He's 13 under now, the lowest score ever in a U.S. Open, with ten strokes on everyone else in the field.
He could score a 63 with a birdie on 18, but he's hit his tee shot left into the gallery.

1. And his approach shot goes in the water |
|
Perhaps I cursed him by posting the thread.

3. well, he got some practice in on that 18th hole |
|
wound up with double bogey. Still has the two-round record for the U.S. Open, though.
Maybe that will get it out of his system :)

8. Rory makes it look so simple |
|
Long, high, straight and soft. It's remarkable to watch the ball rocket off the clubface in person.
I still think he's somewhat one dimensional and not a great scrambler or putter. He's susceptible to change in course conditions like St. Andrews last year. But this US Open is more tame than typical and won't be firm enough tomorrow to make any sense of blowing a lead.
For reference purposes, Rory was 2/3 favorite to hold the 4 shot lead going into the final round of the Masters. Tonight the man-to-man betting line is 1/10.
