San Francisco Giants tie a rather dubious 97 year-old MLB record |
|
19 straight solo home runs, i.e., no one on base. Last team to do that were the Philadelphia Phillies in 1914.

1. And Panda breaks it....20 consecutive solo HRs now |
|
A record I find more of a curiosity than anything else. Though in the case of this year's Giants, it's just another indication of their inability to hit with runners on base. The last time the Giants hit a multiple run homer was way back on July 6th..

2. And the Phillies set the previous record during the dead ball era |
|
Last night in the third inning Florida walked Sandoval, loading the bases, to face the clean-up hitter Aubrey Huff. What does THAT tell you. Oh, he popped out to end the inning.
Sabean is reportedly still sold on batting coach Hensley Meulens.

Branndon Belt, two-run homer, against the Marlins August 14th, 2011.
This is a MLB record that will stand forever.

Apologies... I missed the game and screwed-up the box score. Missed the Belt home runs too. If he could find his swing it would solve a lot problems.
